HELEN COLLETT SRO, DBO, D

After 25 years in private practice, Helen retired from seeing patients in December 2020.

“It has been a pleasure and privilege to practice Orthoptics, helping and getting to know so many patients and working with specialist consultant colleagues. Thank you for your kind words and gifts. I will carry on teaching and consultancy along with spending more time in the garden and restoring our 17th century farmhouse.”

Helen is Associate Lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University Medical School and Ramsay Healthcare. She set up an ophthalmic diagnosis program teaching clinical skills and competencies in vision, visual fields and ophthalmic technology such as OCT laser scanning ophthalmoscopy. She consults on implementation of policies for Health Care Support Workers to provide nurse led ophthalmic diagnostic clinics.

She is a highly skilled and experienced Orthoptist, a specialist Expert Witness, an internationally recognised speaker in orthoptics and a national presenter of ophthalmic diagnostics. Between 1995- 2020 she advised the British and Irish Orthoptic Society on private practice, medical legalisation and ophthalmic technology.
